Examples of pathways include horticulture (e_g purple loosestrife, Lythrum salicaria; Maki and Galatowitsch 2004), agriculture (e_g sisal hemp, Agave sisalana; Ortega et_al 2019), pet trade (e_g Burmese python, Python bivittatus; Wilson et_al 2011) and biofouling (e_g zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha; Carlton 2008). Similarly, certain pathways may favor successful invaders, e_g pet trade particularly favors invasive species (Gippet and Bertelsmeier, 2021).
