- What: The authors aimed to identify blood-based DNA methylation biomarkers that are associated with breast cancer. This study has identified a breast cancer-associated methylation profile that is immune-related to poten‑ tial for early cancer detection. The authors focus on peripheral blood DNA methylation, as it is easy to collect and process especially relative to cell-free DNA. An overview of the study design is shown in Fig 1.
