  • What: The article describes how attorneys exploit boosters to produce convincing arguments and control the power relationship with an audience. Given the imbalance in the amount of research into metadiscourse features and to complement the picture of persuasion in courtroom discourse, this research investigated boosters in closing arguments delivered by attorneys drawing upon a corpus of high-profile US trials.
