Behavioural biases in sell-side equity analysts’ decision-making: a south african emerging market perspective

HIGHLIGHTS

  • What: The aim of this study is to describe the process followed by analysts in formulating recommendations and to identify the behavioural biases that are likely to influence the process. This study explores each of these two possibilities. Sample sizes in the research that focuses on individuals involved in the investment process have been varied. The findings in this study echo those of Coleman , where the contribution of less quantifiable aspects such as organisational culture, managerial skill and governance was considered equally important as fundamental and technical factors.
