Impact of assimilation of absolute dynamic topography on arctic ocean circulation

HIGHLIGHTS

  • What: The aim of this study is to assess the impact of assimilating this ADT on surface currents and volume transports across the Arctic Ocean using a multi-year reanalysis. The authors aim to address the following questions: This approach will be referred to hereafter as the classical approach. The authors compare the direct ADT fields (Equation 2) with the classical ADT fields (Equation 1) corresponding to Prandi et_al processing. This is consistent with the analysis presented in the previous sections that showed exaggerated changes to SSH, surface currents and ice drift in this area.
