  • What: The authors explore the deterrent effect of environmental regulation from a peer influence perspective. This study explores the deterrent effect of environmental penalties imposed on target firms by the relevant firms from the perspective of corporate ESG score , which is conducive to understanding the economic consequences of corporate environmental penalties from a new perspective, and also provides a reference basis for the government to better utilize administrative means for environmental regulation and governance. The instrumental variables selected in this paper are reasonable.
