  • What: This study investigates the influence of surface integrity and the localized fatigue phenomena on the initiation and propagation of short fatigue cracks in high-frequency mechanical impact (HFMI)-treated welded joints. Third, by comparing the notch models with different surface characteristics, this study investigated how the surface integrity affects the local response in the fatigue damage zone especially during short crack growth.
