• What: The authors hence implemented the intestinal screening platform for the culturing of C. difficile (CDi-screen) , and the authors present the mucosal i-screen (Mi-screen) experimental approach with the inclusion of a mucus agar layer for the culturing of mucosa-associated microbiota. The authors demonstrate the screening of the effects of the ingredients 2′-fucosyllactose (2`-FL), inulin, and fructooligosaccharides (FOS) on a complex luminal and mucosa-associated gut microbial community without and with C. difficile challenge in_vitro.
