Biological interaction of bioactive polymeric membranes in induced bone defects in rabbit tibias

HIGHLIGHTS

  • What: The study aimed to evaluate bone repair using three osteoinductive polymers in bone defects created in rabbit tibias. Histomorphometric analysis was conducted to evaluate new bone formation within and around the bone defect. The study did not aim to elucidate the osteoinductive mechanisms of the polymers, but based on the literature, it is reasonable to assume that osteoinduction is linked to the mentioned events.
