Current state of neurodevelopmental and psychosocial care practices for paediatric patients with ventricular assist devices: an advanced cardiac therapies improving outcomes network and cardiac neurodevelopmental outcome collaborative collaborative survey

HIGHLIGHTS

• What: Through a descriptive survey developed in collaboration by the Advanced Cardiac Therapies Improving Outcomes Network and the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcome Collaborative this study aimed to characterise current neurodevelopmental and psychosocial care practices for paediatric patients with ventricular assist devices. Questions specific to the project goals were written as needed. The survey assessed the following domains: 1) site and respondent demographics, 2) general neurodevelopmental care practices, 3) inpatient neurodevelopmental care practices, 4) outpatient neurodevelopmental care practices, and 5) mental/behavioural health care practices.
