Physiological changes in women’s skin during the menstrual cycle: a scoping review

  • What: The aim of the follicular phase is to recruit and mature ovarian follicles for release during ovulation . The aim of the present review was to identify, characterize, and discuss the range of physiological changes in the skin of healthy women who have a regular menstrual cycle to provide a cohesive overview of the menstrual cycle`s effect on women`s skin. The following data was extracted: title, authors, year of publication, study objective, study design, outcome, key measurements, type of skin physiology studied, and conclusions . This study evaluated 51 females aged 12-45 years.
