Decoding inflammation: predicting sepsis in the icu

• What: The authors evaluated the predictive capabilities of six inflammatory biomarkers - C-reactive protein (CRP) red cell distribution width (RDW) neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) monocyte distribution width (MDW) mean neutrophil volume (MNV) and mean monocyte volume (MMV) - measured from samples taken for complete blood count (CBC) for the development of sepsis in patients. In this prospective observational study, the authors aimed to analyze these parameters (available from CBC and CRP) for the prediction of sepsis and outcomes in the ICU.
