- What: Article history: This study examines the influence of SME work motivation and the work ethic of SME proprietors. The results demonstrated that the mediating effect of work ethics on the relationship between work motivation and company was insignificant. The research variables consist of SME performance and knowledge sharing as dependent variables, work motivation as an independent variable, and work ethic as a mediating variable. This means that work motivation in small and medium enterprises in East Java has met the criteria for work motivation according to Maslow.
