  • What: The aim of this study was to examine the microbial community structure (MCS) and the metabolic profile of surface sediments of three channels tributary of La Plata River affected by oil refinery industries, to obtain a better understanding of its ecology and to design future sustainable management strategies. The authors have investigated and compared three neighboring, anthropized freshwater courses through physicochemical characterization, diversity of bacterial communities, the prediction of metagenome functions and the prediction and quantification of genes involved in hydrocarbon degradation.
