  • What: The aim of this narrative review is to describe the factors that provide a host-protective granulomatous response with TB and the circumstances which cause granulomas fail. The authors explore the multifaceted circumstances leading to their occasional failure in protecting the host. Much of the work have focused on the granulomas and the molecular and cellular components that participate in their formation in experimental animals as well as re-analysis of archived and more contemporaneous human TB tissues.
