  • What: Through case studies of conflicts in Sudan Afghanistan and Myanmar-Bangladesh the analysis reveals China`s focus on highlevel government-centric mediation and its tendency to align with strategic interests. In Sudan, the primary motivation was purely economic- securing access to oil resources. Publicly articulating a set of impartial mediation principles - focusing on neutrality and peace as the primary objectives - would further bolster China`s credibility.
