The impact of demographic, psychosocial, and socioeconomic factors on barriers to accessing dental services in bulgaria

HIGHLIGHTS

• What: The aim of this study was to systematically identify and analyze barriers to accessing dental services in the Republic of Bulgaria, focusing on demographic, psychosocial, and socioeconomic factors that influence access to dental care. The analysis showed that barriers by patients were the leading ones. The main reason for patients` postponing dental treatment was lack of pain - 221 (31.21%), followed by lack of time - 126 (17.8%). As suggested several times in the existing literature , the authors also identified the main reasons for bad dental experience - failure in dental treatment and negligent attitude and behavior . . .
