Transitional probabilities outweigh frequency of occurrence in statistical learning of simultaneously presented visual shapes

HIGHLIGHTS

  • What: In the current experiment, I seek to replicate the phantomword phenomenon with simultaneously presented visual shapes. Before starting the familiarization, participants were informed that the study aimed to investigate how individuals remember combinations of objects. As shown in Table 4, the models showed that performance on word vs. part-word trials was significantly better than for word vs. phantomword trials.
