HIGHLIGHTS
- What: Current study Expanding beyond current research that focuses on quantifying age-related deficits in episodic memory, the goal of this study was to understand how aging leads to qualitative shifts in the way complex events are represented and remembered. The authors show that older adults` tendency to form gist-based representations shifts content of their episodic memory and that these qualitative shifts emerge in the absence of episodic memory deficits (e_g, memory accuracy) or age differences in temporal organization.
