- What: The aim of this review is to address the limitations in the existing literature, in particular the lack of current exploration of mechanisms of change, by identifying the key mechanisms involved in school-based peer education interventions that aim to improve health literacy and health behaviours in young people. One study modelled on informal diffusion of knowledge had a dual focus of physical activity and healthy eating, however the study deemed the dual focus ‘too complex for information diffusion through adolescent peer networks`.
