- what: Earlier analyses of this model had shown that the hepatic glucose transporter GLUT2 exerted no flux control over a range of glucose concentrations33, suggesting that hepatocytes are not vulnerable to glucose transport inhibition. The study shows that very promising targets can exist outside the realm of the unique proteins. This was why the authors focused on competitive inhibitors first.
