- what: The study demonstrates for the first time that DJ-1 and aSyn can directly interact in_vitro and in living cells. The authors demonstrate that familial PD mutations of DJ-1 affect this interaction. The authors show that DJ-1 reduces aSyn dimerization whereas familial PD mutant versions of DJ-1 fail to antagonize aSyn dimerization to the same degree . . .
