• what: The authors explored the possibility that the production of LCOs is a more common trait among fungi than was previously anticipated. The authors demonstrate that LCOs are not produced solely by symbiotic microorganisms but also by widely divergent members of the Kingdom Fungi. The authors show that LCOs have regulatory functions in fungal development.
