- who: Bryn S. Moore from the (UNIVERSITY) have published the article: A Conserved Mechanism for Gating in an Ionotropic Glutamate Receptor*, in the Journal: (JOURNAL) of June/28,/2013
- what: The authors show that bending the pore helix at a highly conserved alanine residue (Ala-621) below the gate is responsible for channel opening. The authors set out to examine whether glutamate receptors use a pivoted bending mechanism for gating. Throughout the paper, the residue numbering of the mature protein without the 21-amino_acid signal peptide is used.
