The authors shouldn`t confuse formal poetry with the perfection of form. I am concerned with a different phenomenon. The aim of formal poetry is not to express something (a subject), but rather to reveal a form in full flower (here, a courtly song). I think it is more important to point to another order of facts: the tradition that unites them and the importance given . . .
