Case Presenttion Cannulation of the central veins is an essential technique for both long term and emergent care since these catheters allow high volume fluid resuscitation, administration of colloids, vasopressors, and blood, and hemodynamic monitoring. Possible complications include rupture of the internal carotid artery, pneumothorax, rupture of the vein, thrombosis, obstruction of the airway, and infection.
