    The great majority of coat colours in mammals are shades of grey and brown as a consequence of both cryptism and concealment. Coat colour in cattle represents an important phenotypic trait which is considered to be a hallmark characteristic of many breeds, therefore, representing a relevant component for breeding strategies. Among cattle breeds, the grey phenotype is rather common in many taurine breeds such as those belonging to the so-called Steppe/Podolian trunk, but also in many indicine breeds. In the wave of the aforementioned study, here the authors expanded the above methodology . . .
