In vitro combination of ascorbic and ellagic acids in sperm oxidative damage inhibition

SUMMARY

    A reduction in OS levels in human spermatozoa exposed to AA has been confirmed by other in_vitro studies. Ellagic acid (EA), the dimeric form of gallic acid present mainly in red fruits and walnuts, can prevent oxidative damage of DNA both in_vitro and in_vivo. Whereas it is well known that many antioxidants can enhance their protective action if they act in synergy, the aim of this work was to test the potential antigenotoxic of AA and EA in combination on human spermatozoa in_vitro.
