Tuberculosis alters immune-metabolic pathways resulting in perturbed il-1 responses

HIGHLIGHTS

SUMMARY

Metabolic reprogramming is also crucial for determining successful immune_responses. To better understand how these crucial cytokine pathways are perturbed in active TB disease, the authors applied a standardised immunomonitoring tool to compare induced immune_responses between LTBI and TB patients at proteomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic levels. Overall, the approach adds new understanding of how M.tb impacts human immune_responses, providing new avenues for better diagnostic tools, vaccines and treatments, including hostdirected therapeutics. Immune stimulation identifies specific gene_expression differences that improve stratification of active TB disease from latent M.tb infection Frontiers in Immunology To examine . . .
