SUMMARY

    The authors investigated macro-invertebrate (Arthropoda and Gastropoda) abundance on eight green roofs and eight adjacent ground level sites in an urban environment. The results do not support the hypothesis that public green spaces have a higher invertebrate abundance at a higher taxonomic level than green roofs. A comparison between individual taxa revealed several significant differences in abundance, between green roofs and ground level sites. Beetles, isopods and bees were more abundant at ground level sites compared to green roofs while for true bugs and cicadas, the authors show the opposite result. The lower . . .
