- what: The authors also found that infested cut trees emitted significantly higher amounts of certain volatile compounds compared to infested standing trees. The authors have not measured and compared the volatiles from non-infested cut trees and for this reason it is not possible to conclude which compounds are being produced as a direct result of the mechanical damage . . .
