SUMMARY
While there are broad explorations of the relationship between trade and dietary (un)sustainability in the food policy literature, the authors would benefit greatly from a better understanding of how trade can serve as a tool in fostering food system sustainability while at the same time avoiding potentially perverse consequences of trade policy decisions. Explicit analysis of shifts in bilateral trade were not possible for this study, but remain an important potential avenue for future research, especially relating to, e_g, the potential impact of trade "chokepoints" on achieving healthy diets.
