SUMMARY
Model biases in the North Pacific jet can affect the propagation of Rossby Waves generated in the Tropics, therefore the same RWS can lead to different responses in the Pacific-North American region, depending on the model jet bias. Comparison with the values of the same Pacific Jet indices computed for the CMIP6 models indicates that the SPEEDY experiments are able to mimic the bias in the Pacific jet strength of CMIP6 models (Fig 3).
