Single-cell transcriptome analysis of embryonic and adult endothelial cells allows to rank the hemogenic potential of post-natal endothelium

SUMMARY

    Instead of basing ourselves on overall gene_expression pattern, the authors specifically looked for the gene_expression of key transcription factors (TF) crucial to the EHT process and hematopoiesis: Cbfa2t3, Cbfb, Erg, Fli1, Gata1, Gata2, Ldb1, Lmo2, Lyl1, Runx1 and Tal1. As expected, the frequency of the TF gene_expression was close to one hundred percent in embryonic endothelial cells (Fig 3a). When the authors examined the endothelial cells from the adult tissues, the authors found that Erg, Fli1, Lmo2, Cbfb, Gata2, Ldb1 and Cbfa2t3 had moderate frequency of gene_expression (above 25%) while Tal1, Lyl1 and Runx1 . . .
