    Those activated cells produce cytokines (IL-1 alpha, IL-1 beta, IL-6, IL-8, IL-18), chemokines, growth factors, IFN gamma, TGF beta, and MCP-1 which provide fibromuscular growth of the prostate via STAT-1/NF-κB signaling. IL-6 is mostly secreted by macrophages and also by T and B lymphocytes, monocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, keratinocytes . . .
