- what: As Leishmania can survive inside macrophages, the authors evaluate whether IS, C16Im and C16PyrCl stimulate the leishmanicidal activity of macrophages. This study showed that C16Im was not so effective to kill L amazonensis as C16MImMeS. The authors demonstrate that IS with leishmanicidal activity caused an increase in ROS production in L amazonensis.
