SUMMARY
Despite the widespread availability of effective COVID-19 vaccines, many individuals still hesitate to take the vaccine or refuse outright to do so. As of the end of August 2022, the proportion of U.S. individuals who were fully vaccinated was 67.5% and who received a booster shot was 32.8% (or 48.5% of the fully vaccinated). Applied to COVID-19 vaccination, monetary incentives may be perceived as a bribe, or as a signal that the vaccine is ineffective or unsafe. Indeed, studies find little evidence that financial rewards increase COVID-19 . . .
