    In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, countries around the world have implemented non-pharmaceutical interventions. The widespread use of these interventions has raised interest in empirically studying their effects on health-related outcomes reflecting disease dynamics, e. g. the number of new cases or infection rates. Different study settings, outcomes, interventions, methodological approaches, and ways to assess effects may be used. The authors systematically review the methodologies for studying the associations of non-pharmaceutical interventions with health-related outcomes.
