SUMMARY
Cryptococcosis primarily occurs in patients with immunodeficiencies, but novel risk factors continue to emerge, given the growing immunocompromised patient population. Though the association between COVID-19 and cryptococcosis is unknown, cases of cryptococcosis in patients with COVID-19 have been reported. Data from a multicenter research network found that cryptococcosis occurred most often in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 who had traditional risk factors with an incidence and prevalence of 0.022% and 0.059%, respectively.
