SUMMARY

    The arterial supply of the spinal cord is supplied by the vertebral arteries at the cervical level, the dorsal intercostal arteries at the thoracic level, and the lumbar arteries at the lumbar level of the spinal cord. Because the gray matter of the spinal cord has a rich capillary network, the spinal motor neurons have been reported to be susceptible to transient spinal cord ischemia. In animal models of spinal cord injuries induced by CA and spinal cord impactor, treatments of hypothermia and medication (imatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor) can improve hindlimb motor outcome . . .
