    As concerns the brain, cerebrovascular risk factors for Alzheimer`s disease precede cognitive decline, often by decades. Increasing evidence points towards: 1) risk factors for cardiovascular disease being very similar to risk factors for dementia. 3) Since chronic inflammation, in particular, is often associated with cardiovascular disease as well as the process of amyloid-beta (Aβ) deposition, the inhibition of inflammatory cascades may attenuate amyloidogenic processes . . .
