SUMMARY
In physiological conditions, epigenetic age (or DNAm age) should coincide with chronological age (i.e., epigenetic age acceleration equal to zero), but, in pathological conditions like obesity, an epigenetic age acceleration (i.e., epigenetic age > chronological age) has been reported. The authors hypothesize that BWRP might be effective in reducing the epigenetic age acceleration and that the BWRP-induced slowing of the epigenetic clock might be more evident in obese subjects characterized by more accelerated aging.
