SUMMARY
Aberrant immune_responses resulting in disruption of the gastrointestinal mucosa, environmental factors, gut microbiota composition, and genetic predisposition contribute to disease evolution and to the health-related life quality of IBD patients. Although these regimens were the keystone of long-standing IBD disease remission by suppressing immune_responses, they have raised concerns in the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic era.
