SUMMARY
Some plants are excellent raw materials for producing natural colorants as they have a great amount of watersoluble dyes or plant pigments, like dye plants such as indigo and madder, while others just don`t seem to have enough pigments. This original research study aims, for the first time, to inventory all the dye-producing plants or plant species potentially rich in dyes or pigments from the endemic, native, introduced and alien-invasive plants growing in Reunion Island.
