The Delta-Notch signaling pathway is a ligand‒receptor signaling pathway that mediates cell‒cell communication in developing organs. Notch1 was expressed in endothelial cells in the glomeruli, and overexpression of the Notch1 intracellular domain in Tie2-expressing endothelial cells led to albuminuria via decreased VE-cadherin expression.
