SUMMARY
Since the early FDA approval of subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS), several randomized clinical trials have documented the efficacy of this treatment for the relief of advanced Parkinson`s disease (PD) symptoms1-5. When considering the long-term period, while a few authors agreed on the progressive decline of axial functions up to 10 years after surgery12,24,25, no studies have examined the impact of STN-DBS on the occurrence of falls in PD.
