SUMMARY
The SCC pilot in 7 districts of Rajasthan demonstrated a decrease in early neonatal mortality, and was thus scaled-up into a national program-the Dakshata program where the WHO SCC is adopted into a 29-item facility-based training tool coupled with mentoring. Amidst all these efforts, there is a need to assess the effect of the Dakshata program, which is one of the first comprehensive quality improvement programs for maternal/newborn care in the country.
