SUMMARY

    Following the release of the British Energy Security Strategy in April 2022, the UK government has committed to at least 50% electrolytic hydrogen production (i.e. 5 GW), in parallel to a regional focus on the deployment of blue hydrogen hubs around industrial clusters. Evidently, the feasibility of hydrogen homes is contingent upon developments across other sectors, while the underlying "hydrogen socio-technical system" is embedded within the wider energy transition.
