SUMMARY
Overfishing, pollution, the introduction of foreign species, the alteration of coastal habitats, or changes in environmental conditions all negatively influence the functioning of shallow-water ecosystems, particularly in intertidal zones, increasing or decreasing the abundance of some crustacean species.
