SUMMARY
The moracins are a sizeable group of benzofuran natural products derived primarily from the Morus genus in the Moraceae family (mulberry tree) (Fig 1, 1). To date 26 members (moracin A-Z) have been identified, the majority of which have been isolated from the root bark, stem bark and leaves of Morus alba, Moris ihou, and Morus macroura. Structurally, the members of this class of natural product typically contain hydroxylation at the 6-position, as well as at the 30,50 -positions of arene connected at the 2-position of the benzofuran.
